Starting Points
The six days of Genesis 1 describe ordered history (whether as six 24-hour days or long ages), as the Bible is a trustworthy revelation from God, who does not lie
Unguided biological macro-evolution is impossible, and stellar evolution seems unlikely
The universe really is very big (billions of light-years in extent)
The Earth is a special place to God because mankind lives there
God exists outside of time
Notes:
These points are an important backdrop in this presentation:
The first is that the creation account found in Genesis (along with the sin of Adam and Eve, and Noah's flood) is actual history. If one wants to dismiss these accounts as being nothing more than pure myth, he will likely not have any problems with accepting the standard evolutionary scenario for how we got here. But for a person of faith who has some regard for the Bible, serious theological problems exist if these things were not real history.
It is not a focus of this presentation, but there are many scientific reasons to believe that unguided macro-evolution is an impossibility (such as the fact that random natural processes could NEVER produce the information found in DNA). Creation scientists look to Noah's flood as a better explanation for the fossil record, one of the supposed evidences that evolution has occurred.
Even if we believe that the Earth is young, it is clear that the universe is VERY BIG, which is quite consistent with an all-powerful God.
Because the Earth is home to man, theories which require the Earth to be at a special position in the universe are not unreasonable. There is no hint from the Bible or from current scientific investigation that intelligent creatures live anywhere else in the universe.
Finally, it should be remembered that God exists outside of time. He is not constrained by current physical processes, as He invented the processes. Whether just a few thousand years, or many billions of years go by is of no consequence to God ("With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day", 2 Peter 3:8).
