The Night of the Bogus Bandits

A bank is being robbed by bandits in masks. Jim starts beating up the bandits when one of them shoots and kills him. A whistle blows and Dr. Loveless berates them for doing such a lousy job. The next day the bandits rob a bank for real. In the train, Artie and Jim discuss the robberies with Colonnade Crockett. Jim wonders were all the money has gone, since none of it has shown up. Loveless burns the money from the latest robbery in a campfire. One of the bills flutters out of the fire and is stepped on by one of the men. Jim and Artie get their hands on two of the bills and trace them to two towns. They each check out one of the towns. Jim goes to the town of Turquoise and asks for the sheriff. In the other town, Miss Bancroft introduces a new member of her boarding house. Jim goes into a saloon and meets the sheriff -- Loveless. Artie finds Miss Bancroft hanging laundry and asks her about the bill. He notices someone standing behind a sheet, hits him and is shot by Pearline. Loveless takes Jim on a tour of his school, including a rather familiar corridor (Windowless Corridor). He tells his class that three of them will have a chance to kill Jim (yeah, right).

Loveless takes Jim and the three men into the courtyard. Jim takes out the first two men easily. Jim runs down a corridor only to find bars slamming shut at the end. As the third man enters the corridor, a gun is lower to Jim on a rope. Jim grabs the gun, flips it around so it's point toward him and fires. The last man drops dead. Jim is led back to Loveless at gun point. Loveless takes the gun, sticks it in Belladonna's purse and pulls out a real gun. He's just about to shoot Jim when this old geezer starts making a fuss at the gate (I wonder who that is <G>). Artie starts a fire out of his canteen and Our Heroes escape. Jim and (an undisguised!) Artie try to telegraph the Colonel Crockett, but the telegraphs are down. So instead, they go to the Territorial Communication Center to try to stop Loveless. They knock out the guards and find Loveless and Belladonna. To stop Loveless, Artie throws himself into the generator. Loveless pulls a gun out of Belladonna's purse and holds her hostage He escapes out the door and through a laundry shoot. Jim rushes outside, only to find nothing. But as he goes back into the building he is passed by a nanny (Antoinette?) and a cigar smoking baby.
